Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) activities across the mining operation. Develop, implement, maintain and continuously improve the company's SHEQ management systems, policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), DMPR requirements and all relevant legislation. Accept and fulfil all applicable statutory legal appointments required for the position. Liaise with the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) and other regulatory authorities. Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification (HIRA), HAZOP studies, audits and inspections. Lead incident investigations using recognised methodologies such as ICAM and Bowtie and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Oversee environmental management, rehabilitation programmes and sustainability initiatives. Drive contractor HSE compliance, legal appointments and safety performance. Develop and implement safety training, inductions, toolbox talks and safety awareness programmes. Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation. Manage emergency preparedness, medical surveillance programmes and emergency response planning. Monitor HSE performance, analyse safety metrics and prepare statutory compliance reports. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards. Provide HSE leadership during construction and mining projects.
