SUMMARY:
Seeking and Associate Strategy Manager with a Tertiary Degree (an MBA will be beneficial) plus 5 to 7 years relevant industry experience or Strategy Consulting equivalent, for an EE role based in Cape Town or Johannesburg.

POSITION INFO:

Job Role

  • Responsible for the systematic and methodical investigation, analysis and documentation of all business areas to determine inefficiencies in order to create effective solutions to assist in reduction of costs and productivity improvements.
  • Work independently or as part of a Project team to deliver research and analysis as part of strategic growth and innovation and often operational improvement projects across different       business areas and disciplines.
  • Act as a bridge between Business, Sales and the IT teams.
  • Create compelling business propositions to develop and grow annuity revenue streams. May support the Sales team by providing expertise to uncover new opportunities.
  • Build strategic relationships with key clients through regular and on-going interaction and communication.
  • Conduct or oversee primary and secondary Research to produce robust qualitative and quantitative analysis and worksto develop data-driven insights to formulate relevant strategy which will promote growth and improve initiatives to address critical areas of focus.
  • Engage with business partners to source relevant information, share insights and drive change.
  • Ensure that the portfolio of services is appropriately grown and developed in line with the organization''s strategy.
  • May have supervisory responsibilities.

 Responsibilities

  • Support Group Senior Strategists and Managers in the development of long-term strategic plans and objectives through the identification of strategic issues and opportunities that could influence Group growth and profitability.
  • Support cluster executives, develop cluster strategic initiatives to execute on the Group strategic vision.
  • Drive insightful analyses of the market and transaction trends as well as identify and explore any adjacencies to the business in order to ascertain potential risks and opportunities.
  • Perform analysis on strategic initiatives to determine their prioritization.
  • Working across the Group, ensure successful development and implementation of certain cluster Strategic initiatives by:
    • Analyzing and challenging initiative roadmaps (incl. KPIs, risks, milestones and interdependencies)
    • Acting as a sounding-board to certain initiative owners for key decisions in roadmapping and implementation.
  • Share experience and best practices gained with initiative owners.
  • Regularly monitor performance measures put in place to determine the effectiveness of certain implemented initiatives.
  • Ensure all key strategic initiatives consistently reflect the Group’s goals and interests.
  • Support Group Senior Strategists and Managers’ work on other strategic initiatives.
  • Regularly communicate the status of certain strategic initiatives to Group Senior Strategists.
  • Collaborate with Group Senior Strategists on facilitation of quarterly business reviews on cluster strategic performance.
  • Support Group Senior Strategists perform annual strategic review to evaluate overall performance against strategic targets.

 Requirements

Qualifications

  • University degree
  • An MBA will be advantageous.
  • CA (SA), Actuarial or engineering qualifications may help you with analytical part of the role

Experience

  • 5 to 7 years relevant industry experience or Strategy Consulting equivalent.
  • Previous Strategy experience, preferably in a Tier 1 consulting environment.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the Insurance Industry environment
