Opportunity for an Auto Electrician to join the mechanical team in JHB Eastern Suburbs on a Contractor basis. Must have 3-5 years experience, work on heavy-duty trucks, and plant equipment. Strong diagnostic skills required.

Auto Electrician Vacancy

Location: JHB - Eastern Suburbs
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Seniority Level: Mid Career (2 - 4 yrs exp)
Type: Contractor

Duties and Responsibilities:

Install new electronic components on vehicles, trucks, and plant equipment

Fault-finding and Diagnose problems with electronic components in vehicles, trucks, and plant equipment

Maintain and repair electronic components

Utilize a wide variety of tools to diagnose, maintain, and repair parts efficiently

Test and repair starters, alternators and charging systems, lights, indicators, break lights, and trailer plugs

Operate all tools and equipment safely, in compliance with health and safety standards

Fault finding of electrical systems through visual inspection and relevant tools

Maintain a clean working environment and work without supervision

Attend to breakdowns on all sites

Manual inspection of control modules and connectors

Repairing ABS/EBS wiring faults, immobilizer wiring, and ignition systems

Understanding 12V/24V systems on trucks, shorts, open circuits, and bad earths

Fixing trailer electrical systems, testing charging systems manually

Planned and unplanned maintenance schedules, hand testing switches, relays, and accessories

Ability to read wiring diagrams and install extra electrical accessories traditionally

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Qualified Auto Electrical Trade Certificate (Red Seal) is advantageous
National Diploma or relevant qualifications
Prior experience of 3-5 years within the relevant industry and advanced knowledge of modern vehicle electrical systems
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Experience with MANN truck brand
Valid driver's license in order to travel within East rand area to company sites
Ability and valid license to operate plant machinery, trucks and vehicles
Ability to work as a team member
Ability to work without supervision
Excellent Health and Safety awareness and knowledge to ensure compliance
Competency and awareness of use of all required tools
Computer literacy
Valid Medical Certificate, or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate
