Banking Team Leader

SUMMARY:
A leading commercial risk specialist is looking for a Banking Team Leader to oversee the daily operations of its Finance Banking team. This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of banking operations while driving service excellence and operational efficiency.

POSITION INFO:
Reporting to the Head of Financial Operations, the role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely banking and financial operations, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, and supporting a culture of excellence within the Finance function. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance Banking team and manage deliverables against team targets. Manage daily cash planning. Oversee the processing and allocation of insurance receipts. Manage the processing and approval of local and foreign payments. Oversee accounting journals. Manage business credit card expenditure reporting and reconciliation. Administer banking platforms and provide first-line support to online banking users. Review bank and clearing account reconciliations. Prepare the bank reconciliation dashboard, including ageing of balances and progress on corrective actions. Prepare monthly VAT reporting and VAT201 submissions to SARS. Deliver accurate and timely month-end reporting, ensuring data completeness and integrity. Manage year-end audit deliverables. Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures. Identify and implement improvements to finance systems, tools and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Mentor and develop team members through effective leadership. Provide general assistance to the Head of Financial Operations or Finance Management Committee as required. Build effective relationships with underwriting, sales, claims and finance teams, finance management, insurance partners, banking institutions, and internal and external auditors. Job Experience and Skills Required BCom degree. Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience within financial operations and\/or banking. Minimum 3 years' experience managing others. Experience in process implementation. Understanding of accounting systems and software is beneficial, including SAP. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly relating to journals. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Audit management experience. Adaptability. Effective delegation skills. Strong customer focus. Supportive leadership style with strong emotional intelligence.
