Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive new client acquisition, consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets.
• Build, manage, and maintain a strong sales pipeline with a focus on strategic, high-value clients.
• Conduct in-depth client needs analysis to tailor customised freight solutions.
• Conceptualise and execute client acquisition strategies for long-term revenue growth.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operational teams to align service delivery with client expectations.
• Build strong relationships with senior managers and key decision-makers across the supply chain.
• Prepare, analyse, and present weekly and monthly client performance reports.
• Monitor client KPIs and proactively address performance gaps or service issues.
• Hold client partners accountable for agreed SLA deliverables and operational outcomes.
• Travel within South Africa as required to support business development efforts.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or similar).
• 3–5 years’ experience in freight forwarding sales (essential).
• Proven track record in business growth, client acquisition, and sales delivery.
• Experience generating leads through physical and digital channels.
• Strong competence in Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Google Slides.
• Experience in the e-commerce or tech-driven logistics sector (advantageous).

• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
• Data-driven, analytical, and able to convert insights into actionable strategies.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and senior stakeholder engagement skills.
• Highly organised, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple deals at once.
