Business Development Manager

SUMMARY:
We are looking for 2 dynamic Business Development Managers to drive growth and expand market presence in Johannesburg. This role is suited to a seasoned freight forwarding sales professional with strong commercial acumen, proven success in air and sea freight, and the ability to build lasting client relationships. POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: Generate and qualify sales leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry events. Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and track progress in CRM systems. Develop and execute sales strategies to expand the customer base. Build and maintain relationships with existing customers to identify upselling and cross‑selling opportunities. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and competitor activity. Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and customized proposals. Negotiate pricing and contract terms to secure profitable agreements. Ensure compliance with pricing guidelines and company policies. Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews to strengthen relationships. Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth delivery. Prepare sales reports and provide insights to enhance performance. Update customer SOPs and ensure accurate documentation. Requirements: Matric (essential); logistics qualification advantageous. Minimum 5 years' proven experience in freight forwarding sales (sea and air essential). Strong understanding of Incoterms, global trade, and logistics processes. Ability to hunt, close, and retain key accounts. Confident communicator with a commercial mindset. Existing client relationships advantageous. Proficiency in freight forwarding systems and MS Office. Ability to work independently and within a team. Resilient and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
