Business Development Manager (BDM): Public Sector | Donor Funding  – Western Cape

R540 000 to R720 000 Per Annum Negotiable based on Qualification and years of relevant experience

Reputable & Innovative Global Consulting firm is offering this lucrative career opportunity to join their dynamic team of professionals.

The role reports into the Business Lead.

One would describe you as being an entrepreneurially minded individual who possesses solid business acumen and networking skills.  You are an excellent writer with the ability to review and contribute to proposals written by subject matter experts.  Further to this you are deadline driven, detail orientated and strongly analytical.  

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To provide the business with intelligence, strategic content and positioning advice to win work in line with the company’s growth strategy.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant Degree or Tertiary Education
  • 6-10 years’ work experience with at least 5 years’ business development experience in public sector and donor funding tender response based environment / consulting environment
  • Experience in the following sectors will be advantageous: Water, waste, transport, infrastructure, climate, environment / natural resources
  • Excellent client relationship and business development skills
  • Individual must be “hungry” for new business and have a desire to want to expand the Company’s portfolio
  • Experience within a business development team operating in an advisory capacity
  • Experience and exposure to CRM systems and business development tools
  • Experience in developing marketing collateral
  • Experience gained in developing and managing budgets for projects and BD department
  • Experience gained in both the local and international market would be advantageous!
  • Proven networking skills and have established networks in the industry

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create marketing material for business development activities
  • Build strategically positioned business development content
  • Advise practices on selection and approach to achieving winning bids
  • Input and maintain information on business development systems and tools (e.g. CRM; opportunities portal; credentials database)
  • Analyse tender results and provide intelligence to business on adjusting business development approach
  • Advise business on tender quality improvement and implement solutions to address
  • Identify, create and maintain relationships and partnerships that will be key to acquisition and growth
  • Work closely with practices and business to understand practice focus areas and identify opportunities aligned to focus areas
  • Identify, drive and consistently review opportunities that could leverage the business
  • Keep abreast of trends in global and regional agendas and stay up to date with sector discourses and associated work
