Role Objective:
Business Development Portfolio Lead - will be responsible for expanding requires proactively engaging with potential clients to introduce them to the full range of with the internal value chain of the business. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong relationship-building
skills and a passion for business growth.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
1. New Business Development & Expansion
Identify and acquire new clients across diverse sectors to drive business growth.
Develop and implement strategic sales initiatives to expand market share and penetrate
untapped business segments.
Proactively seek out and close high-value deals by understanding client needs and
positioning tailored solutions.
2. Sales Leadership & Strategic Growth
Lead the strategic sales function by driving long-term revenue growth, ensuring
sustainable profitability over multiple years.
Establish a strong pipeline of high-quality leads, ensuring continuous progression and
deal closure.
Ensuring the achievement of revenue targets and overall business growth.
3. Market Intelligence & Industry Insights
Conduct competitor analysis, market research, and trend forecasting to identify
emerging opportunities.
Develop data-driven sales strategies based on industry trends and client demand.
Innovate and tailor solutions to meet evolving client needs, collaborating with internal
teams on solution development.
4. Client Relationship Management & Retention
Establish and nurture high-value relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers,
and industry influencers.
Drive key account diversification, ensuring reduced concentration risk and enhanced
portfolio resilience.
Manage and optimize customer satisfaction, ensuring long-term partnerships and
repeat business.
5. Leadership & Business Development Maturity
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior sales professionals to enhance overall
business development effectiveness.
Champion a high-performance sales culture, ensuring alignment with business
objectives.
Act as a brand ambassador, representing the company at industry events, networking
forums, and strategic engagements.

Understanding of revenue generation models, financial metrics, and business acumen.
Digital fluency, including the ability to leverage social media for marketing and
networking.

Track Record: Proven history of meeting and exceeding sales targets through strategic
client engagement.
Technology Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and
CRM tools.

• 5–7 years of proven business development, B2B sales, and relationship management experience
• A strong track record in L&D sector sales, preferably within banking or financial services
• Firsthand experience owning sales targets (not just lead generation)
• Confidence in selling to C-suite decision-makers
• A deep understanding of complex B2B sales cycles and client acquisition strategies
• Candidate ideally needs to be an African Male – but will consider Indian or coloured males too

• Senior level candidates
• 35+ years old, with demonstrated leadership and professional maturity
• Education : minimum degree/honours in Business, Sales, or a related field/ preferred MBA

• They need to understand the sales cycle
• They must have actually done sales and had targets to achieve (not just lead creation)
• Experience in B2B sales
• Ability to deal with C-Suite cliental
• A lot of the candidates sent/seen are from call centre environments/ no sales targets/ no B2B sales
