CAD Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client specializes in project support for the (petro)chemical and maritime industries. They provide personnel in the areas of Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, Maintenance, and Safety. They are seeking a CAD Engineer to join their team in the Netherlands.

Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required:

• Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 1-10 years of experience in CAD design within the shipbuilding or marine sector.
• Proficiency in CAD Software: Expertise in using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, or CATIA for ship design and modelling.
• Location Requirement: Candidates should either be South African residents currently living in the Netherlands or South Africans willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
• Fluency in Afrikaans (both written and spoken).

• Knowledge of Shipbuilding Standards: Familiarity with maritime regulations, classification societies (e.g., ABS, DNV GL), and industry safety standards.
• Attention to Detail: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on precision and accuracy in design.

• Design & Drafting: Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings for ship components, including the hull, deck, propulsion systems, and interior layouts.
• Collaboration with Engineers: Work closely with naval architects, structural engineers, and other design teams to ensure integration of all ship systems and components.
• Design Modifications: Revise and update CAD designs based on feedback from project teams, testing, or changes in project scope.
• Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all designs comply with marine industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of CAD files, design modifications, and technical specifications for construction and regulatory purposes.
