Canning/Food processing Manager

R1m - R1.2m plus bonus

Cape Town

Global FMCG Group are looking for a highly experienced Canning/Food processing Manager to manage the cannery production process and achieve production and efficiency targets. Reporting into the Operations Director you will be responsible for:

Planning: Annual and medium-term plans compiled in conjunction with /head office and company’s strategic objectives.
Production Planning and Set-up: Assist cannery personnel to achieve financial and operational objectives by improving manufacturing processes.
Operations which include, the management and control of the canning process to ensure that all product specifications and production targets are met throughout the canning stages.
Meet Health and Safety requirements that are aligned to relevant standards and polices.
Production Reporting which includes, completion and signing off of documents, KPI’s reporting on a daily basis, variance analysis, and providing meaningful feedback and motivation for variances at monthly management meeting and implement appropriated corrective action to prevent re[1]
Technical Maintenance and Capital Projects: Day-to-day machine and equipment maintenance and uptime, attending to daily ad hoc technical problems and discuss plans and solutions with technical foreman and Annual shut-down maintenance projects planned and implemented.
Risk Management: Compliance with relevant occupational health and safety laws, regulations and standards complied with by means of a Risk Management System in place, with the assistance of the required policies and procedures in place, ensuring 100% compliance to OHS legislations and Periodic audits of Risk Management System with corrective actions where necessary. • People Management, Staff motivation • Financial Management.
Conduct Internal HACCP/FSSC audits and follow up on findings.
Assist with factory trials/new product development

Qualifications and experience

Mechanical / Chemical Engineering / Food Technology Degree or Diploma
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in food processing/production
Experience in a Canning environment is essential.
