JOB SUMMARY:
A top position within this international organisation requires an exceptional financial manager.  At least 7 to 10 years experience with ideally a CPA designation and a Masters in Accounting, Finance or Business are recommended.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requirements:
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years’ experience in a senior role
  • Master’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business
  • Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications
  • Excellent Financial & Budget skills
  • Underground Mining knowledge

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To manage, organise and contribute to the profitable operation of the company by ensuring that financial accounting systems and internal controls are properly developed and maintained
  • To ensure that financial information, advice and directions are available for management and that the requirements for both Branches and Head Office are met
  • May be required to undertake specific assignments because of having expert knowledge and/or experience in a specific field
  • Monthly Financial Reports:
  • Preparation of monthly Executive Committee and Head Office reporting packs
  • Analyse and interpret the monthly revenue figures when released to provide relevant information to the CEO
  • Review monthly spreadsheets to ensure proper investigations take place before ledger close to run final reports.
  • Review findings of these investigations
  • Review and approve the monthly financial package, checking for accuracy and completeness, follow up any unusual matters with staff or manager concerned
  • Analyze and interpret the financial package to provide relevant information to the CEO
Review Forecasts and Budgets:
  • Review forecasts and budgets prepared by Business Unit Managers and departments and consolidate them
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets
  • Prepare guidelines and deadlines for budget process, monitor and review progress helping out where necessary
  • Provide all necessary back up information to support budgets, as well as all additional information required by branches
  • Provide financial information for budget narrative
  • Assist Chief Executive Officer in budget presentation Financial Year End
  • Prepare the annual financial statements and supporting schedules for review by the auditors
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and group reporting
  • requirements
  • Liaise with auditors and handle any matters of principle raised by them
Tax Matters
  • Review the annual tax returns for the company, including all the required schedules, ensuring exposure to taxation is limited
IT Matters
  • Review utilization of the IT Systems and assist in developing systems which optimize usage
  • Set up reports in other systems e.g., Excel and recommend any changes, upgrades, etc., including the development of new systems to better manage the business
Staff Supervision
  • Manage the Key Performance Indicators of staff ensuring that the required duties are properly and effectively performed
  • Cash Flow Management
  • Management of accounts receivable book
  • Monitor that cash funds are properly managed
  • Ensure that capital expenditure is funded in the most effective and cost-efficient manner
  • Optimize the cash flow of transfers to the group in order to meet financial commitments
Ad Hoc Projects
  • Assist the Chief Executive Officer with any ad hoc projects
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating business risks to ensure business continuity
  • Assist with strategic BEE compliance
  • Strategic financial planning and structuring of the business
  • Scenario driven financial modelling
  • Legal review of all contracts
  • Implementation of a bolt-on reporting and analysis software to the current ERP system
