SUMMARY:
A dynamic Chief Operating Officer who will form part of the Executive Team with the Managing Director, Financial Manager and Sales Manager. The COO will oversee the day to operations and administration of the business, complement the CEO and execute strategy.

POSITION INFO:

My client is a  leading manufacturer of grout and adhesives in Southern Africa with six (6) plants in South Africa and four (4) in other parts of Africa.   The business manufactures Adhesives, Grouts, Paint, Speciality Products, and services in over 700 stores.   The business is currently investing in a new plant to the value of R90m and relocating their Support Centre to Brakpan.

We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer who will form part of the Executive Team with the Managing Director, Financial Manager and Sales Manager. The COO will oversee the day to operations and administration of the business, complement the CEO and execute strategy.

 

Scope:

The incumbent will be responsible for providing direction to the business that is aligned with the strategy, commitment, and goals of the organization.  The incumbent will be responsible for building world-class production competency at the organization and develop a high-performance culture in the manufacturing operations. The incumbent will be required to travel extensively locally and internationally as and when required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure an environment is created that is safe and enjoyable for all to work in.
  2. Responsible for day-to-day operations
  3. Build self-managed teams at each manufacturing site that can deliver production targets such as volumes, productivity, costs, uptime quality and waste.
  4. Drive innovation and improvement in production
  5. Establish and manage preventative and reactive maintenance systems. 
  6. Plan and implement projects
  7. Establish policies that promote company culture and vision
  8. Work with senior management so production supports product development and sales strategies
  9. Build and develop a high-performance team

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  1. Completed NQF 7 Degree or equivalent.
  2. A Mechanical Engineering or Business Administration qualification would be of advantage.
  3. 10+ Years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  4. Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
