Warehouse Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION
Execute operational leadership for all internal operations at the Nigel facility — including manufacturing, warehousing, maintenance, internal logistics, safety, environmental, and vendor-controlled services.
Ensure efficient, safe, and compliant execution of daily activities while driving continuous improvement, cost control, and capability development.
Act as the key link between internal operations, procurement, and customers to align production and dispatch outputs with demand, resolve shortages, and optimize flow and logistics efficiency.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manufacturing Leadership
- Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations, covering quality, bandsaw pipe cutting, welding, CNC machining, assembly and fabrication lines.
- Conduct daily scheduling and resource planning to ensure material readiness and zero downtime.
- Drive OEE, yield, and throughput improvements through Lean practices, Kanban–Gantt synchronization, and waste reduction.
- Approve and monitor maintenance schedules and ensure mechanical reliability of all key assets.
- Co-lead CAPEX and modernization projects aimed at safety upgrades, flow optimization, and production capacity improvement.
- Deliver technical and leadership development programs covering BOM interpretation, drawings, tolerances, and Lean problem-solving.
Warehouse & Internal Logistics
- Manage all warehouse functions including receiving, storage, picking, kitting, packing, and dispatch of materials and finished goods.
- Ensure full physical inventory control across raw materials, WIP, finished goods, components, and spare parts.
- Conduct daily and monthly cycle counts and reconcile with ERP/QAD data; analyze variances, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Plan and execute timely off-loading of inbound materials, verifying quantities and documentation (COC, delivery notes, invoices, MSDS) prior to storage.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Operations for material reconciliation and MRO stock accuracy.
- Coordinate dispatch sequencing and courier performance to achieve 100 % on-time shipments aligned with customer priorities.
- Plan future warehouse capacity requirements and ensure FIFO discipline and 5S housekeeping are sustained.
- Apply Lean Daily Management tools and visual controls to eliminate waste and optimize internal material flow.
Maintenance & Engineering Oversight
- Approve preventive maintenance plans and monitor adherence and breakdown trends.
- Partner with Maintenance contactors to ensure asset reliability, equipment uptime, and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Participate in CAPEX implementation for equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Support the adoption of modern maintenance practices and continuous equipment improvement projects.
Vendor & Service Provider Management
- Serve as the primary liaison for all external logistics partners, waste recyclers, and facility service providers.
- Negotiate and monitor SLAs, ensuring consistent adherence to contractual performance and safety standards.
- Implement escalation frameworks and structured review meetings to address non-conformances.
- Control contractor access and ensure all vendor operations align with company safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Safety, Security & Environmental Management
- Partner with the Safety Officer (dotted-line reporting) to ensure compliance with HIRA, LOTO, fall arrest, and machinery-safety procedures.
- Oversee site security, contractor control, and facility access systems.
- Direct environmental programs covering waste segregation, scrap rebate management, and recycling compliance.
- Maintain ISO 9001:2015 (Quality), ISO 14001:2015 (Environment), and ISO 45001:2018 (Health & Safety) standards across all operations.
- Lead demarcation and housekeeping initiatives to sustain visual safety, flow clarity, and regulatory compliance
Customer & Procurement Alignment
- Act as escalation point for customer issues, shortages, and complaints, ensuring timely root-cause analysis and communication.
- Collaborate with Procurement to manage stock-out risks and maintain accurate replenishment triggers.
- Coordinate customer collections and dispatch scheduling for transparency and reliability.
- Track and report the cost of non-conformance and ensure corrective/preventive measures are implemented.
Talent Leadership & Capability Development
- Plan future Capacity requirements.
- Lead and mentor team leaders across Manufacturing, Warehouse, Aftermarket, Receiving, and Dispatch.
- Manage recruitment-selections, onboarding, and operational training to align workforce skills with operational goals.
- Lead and initiate corrective action conversations and disciplinary procedures as preventative measures.
- Cascade company and plant objectives into SMART goals linked to measurable KPIs.
- Use ILUO matrices and Impact Portfolios to assess, track, and close competency gaps.
- Motivate, organize, and recognize teams to build engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement of culture.
Independence: Reporting to the General Manager; Operating with broad objectives and with independent choice of methods in line with the division’s mission statement.
Direct Reports: Manufacturing Team Leader, Warehouse Team Leader, Aftermarket Team Leader, Ancillary Team Leader, Receiving & Inventory Team Leader, Safety Officer (dotted line)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education level: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 –10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, warehouse, and logistics operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or senior leadership role. Advantageous understanding of the MEIBC Main Agreement will significantly enhance the ability to ensure compliance, manage wage negotiations, and align HR practices with industry standards in the metal and engineering sectors.
Specific knowledge, skill, ability, and requirements: Knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse operations, including inventory management, internal logistics, and maintenance planning, with the ability to oversee multiple functions simultaneously. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and leadership skills are required to manage cross-functional teams and interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as ERP/QAD systems for inventory, production, and reporting. Must be a proactive, hands-on, and flexible team player with the ability to work independently, drive continuous improvement, and ensure operational compliance with safety, environmental, and ISO standards.
