Chief Operations Officer

SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and strategic Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join a leading organisation in the mining sector. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in mining operations and senior leadership, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence and business growth in both open-pit and underground mining environments.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across all mining sites and functions.
• Drive the execution of business objectives, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall vision.
• Oversee project design, planning and implementation from concept to completion.
• Ensure effective operational performance through the implementation of efficient systems and processes.
• Maintain compliance with safety, health, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
• Lead and manage a team of senior managers and site leadership to ensure optimal productivity and stakeholder engagement.
• Collaborate closely with executive leadership on business strategy, budgets, and resource allocation.

• Completed qualification in Mining Engineering or a related mining discipline.
• 10–15 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years at a senior management or executive level.
• Strong background in both open-pit and underground mining operations.
• Demonstrated experience in project planning, design, and execution.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience in managing budgets and KPIs.
• Solid understanding of SHEQ principles and compliance within mining operations.

• Advanced business qualification (MBA or similar) is advantageous.
• Proven ability to lead in complex and dynamic environments.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
