POSITION INFO:

Our client in Fund and Asset management is looking to fill a vacant role for Chief Risk Office Executive. Our client is based in Johannnesburg North. The successful incumbent will also have to travel between Cape town and Johannesburg from time to time (approximately a few days in a month).

JOB PURPOSE

Accountable for the continued development and implementation of an effective governance, risk and compliance management strategy by providing risk management strategies, tools, methodologies and measuring and reporting on risk exposures to mitigate against risk and influence direction of the business to ensure organization performance against long-term strategy. This includes ensuring that the risk agenda reflects the most important existing and emerging risks and provides timely and robust analysis to support strategic decision marking across the organization to drive sustainable growth and innovation.

• Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act 70 of 2002
• Electronic Communications & Transactions Act 25 of 2002

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum – bachelor’s degree in finance, Risk or Information Systems

• NQF level 8

• 10+ years relevant financial services experience

Skills Competencies

• Proven ability to oversee a number of risk types, ideally investment, regulatory, credit, market, operational, concentration and counterparty risk
• Leadership skills, including the ability to manage compliance and control activities
• Must be able to deal with complexity and ambiguity and understand the bigger picture.
• Strong ability to understand and quantify risk.
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports, procedures, and regulations.
• Unquestionable integrity and highest ethical standards
• Interacting in executive forums and board meetings
• Interacting with regulatory and industry bodies
• Excellent communication skills and extensive experience developing and presenting complex information in clear and concise manner to Board and Executive team level presentations.
• Ability to research and understand complex regulatory issues and laws, demonstrate the related risks brought to our organization, and collaboratively work to provide appropriate risk handling activities.
• Ability to function in deadline environment, managing multiple responsibilities while effectively focusing on priority issues.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Self-starter able to work independently.
