JOB SUMMARY:
The Cloud Engineer: Systems is responsible for the design, implementation, performance optimization and integrity of the Linux and BSD environments. This role is responsible for the stability, integrity and day-to-day performance of the hardware and software. The Cloud Engineer: Systems applies proven communication and problem solving skills to troubleshoot performance issues, provide reliable backups and be part of the engineering and implementation of the various infrastructure components that forms part of the systems environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Objectives

Design, build and operate Linux and BSD infrastructure in accordance with best practices
Installing and configuring new hardware and software or supervise contract / vendor personnel during installation and configuration
Conduct analysis, data mining and reporting, with a focus on actionable results
Ensure the uptime, availability and proper performance of all components.
Documentation and management of disaster recovery procedures and ensuring system, storage, and network availability through collaborative processes
Managing & monitor infrastructure

Job Skills

Ability to collaborate with multiple technical resources in order to achieve common business unit outcomes
Ability to read and implement LLD (low level designs)
Proven ability to meet designated deadlines and able to manage multiple projects
Ability to serve as a technical mentor to others and guides less experienced engineers and technicians in resolving complex problems
Ability to apply expert knowledge of software engineering to the most complex problems and to direct, train, and guide less experienced engineers
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, communications, and presentation skills

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Systems Certificate (Redhat/LPI/BSD)
Enterprise class hardware certifications/courses
Networking certifications (CCNP/JNCIP)
5-7 years of experience as a BSD/Linux/Windows/Solaris systems administrator
7-10 years progressively increasing responsibility in computer operations, network and systems administration, and systems engineering
2-3 years’ customer support experience
