SUMMARY:
A leading multinational FMCG organisation is seeking a Commercial Financial Analyst for a 6-month contract based in Midrand. The role will partner closely with Sales and Marketing, providing commercial financial analysis across Net Sales, trade spend, pricing, promotions, P&L performance, ROI and customer profitability. The ideal candidate will have strong FMCG or Retail finance experience, advanced Excel skills and SAP experience, with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful commercial insights and recommendations.

Commercial Financial Analyst - FMCG Location: Midrand, Gauteng Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract Salary: Approximately R50,000 CTC per month Industry: FMCG \/ Retail About the Opportunity A leading multinational organisation within the FMCG sector is looking for a commercially minded Financial Analyst to join its Finance team on a 6-month contract. This is a hands-on commercial finance role working closely with Sales and Marketing , with a strong focus on sales performance, trade spend, pricing, profitability and financial analysis. We are looking for someone who understands the numbers but, more importantly, can translate them into meaningful commercial insights that help the business make better decisions. This opportunity would suit a Financial Analyst, Commercial Finance Analyst, Revenue Analyst or Management Accountant who has gained solid exposure within an FMCG or Retail environment and is ready to take on broader commercial responsibility. What You'll Be Doing You will partner closely with Sales Managers, Marketing and Finance to support commercial performance across the business. Your responsibilities will include: Analysing Net Sales, Gross-to-Net (GTN), profitability and customer performance . Preparing monthly financial results and providing clear commentary and insights on business performance. Supporting the month-end close and ensuring reporting is accurate and delivered on time. Performing detailed P&L and customer profitability analysis . Evaluating promotions and commercial initiatives through ROI analysis . Monitoring and analysing trade spend and ensuring spend remains within approved guidelines. Supporting Sales and Marketing with financial analysis and ad-hoc commercial requests. Reviewing promotional activity and ensuring promotional guidelines are followed. Supporting the monthly S&OP process from a finance perspective. Monitoring pricing changes and ensuring ad-hoc commercial spend is correctly authorised. Performing monthly and quarterly trade spend reconciliations . Monitoring open customer deductions and working with the relevant teams to resolve outstanding items. Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and making recommendations to the business. Supporting financial controls, audit requirements and compliance with trade spend policies. Building strong relationships across Finance, Sales, Marketing and other business functions . What We're Looking For The right candidate will ideally have 3-6 years' relevant commercial finance \/ financial analysis experience , with exposure to an FMCG or Retail environment. You should have practical experience in several of the following areas: Commercial Finance \/ Financial Analysis FMCG or Retail finance Sales and Marketing finance support Trade Spend \/ Customer Spend Net Sales and Gross-to-Net analysis P&L analysis Customer profitability Pricing and promotional analysis ROI analysis Budgeting and forecasting Month-end reporting Variance and performance analysis S&OP Financial controls and reconciliations Essential Requirements Relevant finance\/accounting qualification. CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent qualification\/background. Relevant FMCG or Retail exposure strongly preferred . SAP experience is essential. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Ability to work effectively with Sales and Marketing stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines. Commercial mindset with the confidence to question results and provide recommendations. BPC experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Who Would Fit This Role?
