A vacancy for a Consultant (Financial Modeling) has become available in the Geology and Mining (GEOMIN) Business Unit at SRK Consulting’s Johannesburg office. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancy. The successful candidate will report to the SBU Partner.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary teams undertaking Due Diligence Reviews, Concept Studies, Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), Feasibility Studies (FS), and technical assessments for mining projects globally. Managing technical evaluations of mining projects across multiple commodities and jurisdictions. Developing, reviewing, and interpreting complex financial models to support project evaluations, strategic studies, investment decisions, and technical due diligence assignments. Conducting Mineral Asset Valuations using recognised methodologies, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Market, Cost, and Comparable Transaction approaches, in accordance with international valuation standards. Performing economic assessments, investment appraisals, sensitivity analyses, scenario modelling, and risk evaluations. Preparing Independent Valuation Reports (IVRs), Competent Person's Reports (CPRs), Technical Expert Reports, and due diligence reports for financial institutions, investors, and mining companies. Managing client relationships and ensuring project objectives and deliverables align with client expectations. Preparing technical proposals, reports, presentations, and other client deliverables. Managing project performance, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, scheduling, and project reporting. Supporting business development initiatives and expanding professional and client networks. Qualifications and Skills: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience: Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Economics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Mineral Economics, Business Administration, or a professional financial designation such as CFA, CA(SA), FMVA, or equivalent will be highly advantageous. Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience within the mining, minerals, consulting, project development, investment, or advisory sectors. Strong financial modelling capabilities, including the development and review of mining project valuation and investment models. Demonstrated experience in Mineral Asset Valuation using DCF, Market, Cost, and Comparable Transaction methodologies. Proven experience undertaking or managing technical due diligence reviews, feasibility studies, investment evaluations, and mining project assessments. Strong understanding of mining operations, mineral project development, project economics, and value drivers across the mining lifecycle. Experience preparing Competent Person's Reports (CPRs), Independent Valuation Reports (IVRs), technical reviews, and due diligence reports. Familiarity with international reporting and valuation standards and codes, including SAMREC, SAMVAL, JORC, NI 43-101, CIMVAL, and VALMIN. Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify, evaluate, and communicate investment opportunities and risks within the mining sector. Excellent communication, technical report writing, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills. Professional registration with ECSA, SAIMM, AusIMM, SME, or an equivalent recognised professional body will be advantageous.
