JOB SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client in the automotive sector for a Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader (MET), to be based at their operations in Gqeberha.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties:

Reviews launch plans with respect to labor, floor space, workflow, and layout. The life cycle of responsibility is from project screening to steady state production and a successful project review meeting.
Ensures PPAP and SOP (Start of Production) are on time, milestones are all green, and production quality and efficiency have met stated levels.
Directs launch teams and assists plant management to ensure adherence to APQP guidelines, reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, contract requirements and related specifications.
Establishes priorities, sets goals, plans work assignments, establishes deadlines and carries out tasks to completion. Provides monthly verbal program status reviews to plant management.
Attends meetings with customers, presents data and obtains information from customers to ensure a successful launch.
Maintains plant-based metric (projects on time) and present at Plant-wide meetings when as required.
Confers with planning, process engineering and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure safe, capable, and efficient production methods. Evaluates and assists in design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
Assists process engineers and launches team in review of vendor specifications and equipment purchase plans.
Monitors progress of suppliers of equipment and production parts to ensure on-time delivery and correct PPAP documentation.
Initiates, coordinates, and checks Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) for program-related equipment and tooling. Performs these functions for High-Level CARs when required.
Monitor and manage the capacity planning process for the core competency processes within the plant and report to the CCT Regional leaders.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT (CI)

Manages CI projects strategies for transactional and / or manufacturing operations within a local region or business unit.
Performs gap analysis to identify deficiencies in business processes and programs and recommends countermeasures to address gaps.
Initiates CI Projects that will reduce waste, improve efficiency and improve output. Links process deficiencies directly to bottom line impact.
Leads cross-functional project teams formed to implement change and drives continuous improvement.
Drives projects with a focus on continuous improvement of safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
Builds project plans, including resources, timeline, critical paths, etc.
Participates in continuous improvement reviews with plant and / or Regional Management.

Requirements:

Degree Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Mechatronics and or similar/related qualification
Minimum of 10 years’ experience gained in related maintenance, process engineering, and or
operations role
3+ years of hands-on continuous improvement experience required
Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification required
3+ years in New Product or Launch Management (Project Management) experience
Knowledge of international quality systems i.e. ISO9001:2015 / vIATF16949:2016, VDA 6
Minimum of 3+ years in a People Management role
