POSITION INFO:

Corporate Actuarial Analyst

Sandton

The Corporate Actuarial team is responsible for key

strategic projects that drive the strategic decisions of the business. Responsibilities of the team include development of unique reinsurance program, claims

reserving, valuations (SAM and IFRS), capital projections, capital management (including investment strategy), key experience monitoring and other strategic ad-hoc

projects.

The focus of the role will be to assist with claims reserving, experience monitoring as well as various regulatory capital submissions and ad-hoc investigations and

projects. The role involves exposure to a wide range of areas such as underwriting, claims, legal, finance and wider operations.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

•Estimation and refinement of monthly reserving calculations

•Monitoring monthly experience (e.g. claims) to understand trends

•Assistance with regulatory submissions on solvency and capital

•Process and modelling improvements

•Other strategic ad-hoc projects (e.g. behavioural incentive metrics)

•Writing reports for the actuarial committee

•Creating presentations for board and EXCO

Skills and Knowledge

•Programming Skills: VBA & SQL (Intermediate)

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) (Advanced)

•Actuarial reserving techniques

•SAM solvency capital modelling (advantageous)

Education and Experience

•Matric

•Honours degree in Actuarial Science

•Significant progress with Actuarial exams

•2-4 years working experience as an Actuarial Analyst within the Short Term Insurance industry advantageous
