An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Cost Accountant to join a well-established business where operational insight and commercial thinking are valued just as highly as technical accounting ability.

POSITION INFO:
This role is ideal for a finance professional who understands that costing is more than a reporting function. You will play a critical role in analysing product costs, managing inventory accuracy, improving margins, and supporting operational decision-making across the business.

The successful candidate will work closely with finance, operations, procurement, and production teams to ensure accurate costing, inventory control, and financial visibility throughout the organisation.

Based in City Deep, Johannesburg

Key Responsibilities:
Manage product costing, standard costing, and cost analysis processes
Maintain and analyse Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Monitor and reconcile Work-in-Progress (WIP) balances
Perform inventory valuations and stock reconciliations
Analyse manufacturing, operational, and project-related cost variances
Prepare monthly costing reports and management information
Support budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis
Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
Partner with operational teams to improve financial performance
Assist with month-end reporting, reconciliations, and audit requirements

Job Experience and Skills Required:
BCom Accounting, Finance, or related qualification
CIMA qualification or studies towards CIMA highly advantageous
4 to 5 years' Cost Accounting experience
Strong experience within manufacturing, retail, construction, or similar operational environments
Proven exposure to Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting is non-negotiable
Strong understanding of inventory management and stock control
Experience with costing models, variance analysis, and profitability reporting
Advanced Excel skills essential
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into business decisions
