POSITION INFO:
Company and Job Description: A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to play a key role in cost control, inventory management, budgeting, and financial reporting. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with both finance and operations teams, driving profitability through accurate costing, inventory optimisation, variance analysis, and process improvement. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing environments and a passion for using financial information to support strategic business decisions. Key Responsibilities: Cost Accounting & Analysis Develop and maintain cost accounting procedures and controls Conduct cost audits and margin analysis Prepare cost estimates for new products and projects Review material pricing and manufacturing costs Analyse production costs and identify improvement opportunities Prepare and present detailed cost reports and variance analysis Monitor daily recoveries against production output and budget targets Inventory Management & Control Oversee inventory control processes and stock movement activities Monitor and reconcile Work-in-Progress (WIP) balances Manage goods-in-transit reconciliations Conduct inventory variance investigations and stock count reviews Calculate and review inventory obsolescence provisions Update and maintain system costing structures Perform inventory reconciliations across multiple locations Budgeting & Financial Planning Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts Monitor monthly cost and expense variances Perform cost rate calculations and profitability assessments Support operational management with financial insights and recommendations Financial Reporting & General Ledger Reconcile inventory-related general ledger accounts Ensure integrity between inventory sub-ledgers and financial records Prepare management reports and performance analysis Support month-end reporting processes and financial close activities Project & Audit Support Monitor project profitability against approved budgets and quotations Provide financial support for internal and external audits Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects Job Experience and Skills Required: Degree, Diploma, or Professional Qualification in Cost & Management Accounting, CIMA, or equivalent Minimum 5 years' experience in a Cost Accounting role Strong manufacturing and inventory accounting experience Proven experience with costing models, variance analysis, and inventory control Solid understanding of budgeting and financial reporting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Apply now!
