Senior Creative Director (Brand & Multimedia)

Location: Johannesburg
Type: Onsite, Permanent
Office Requirement: Minimum three days per week onsite (plus occasional weekend shoots)
 
A leading organisation in the financial services sector requires a Senior Creative Director to drive its end-to-end creative direction, oversee brand consistency, and lead a multidisciplinary creative team. This role demands a seasoned agency-experienced creative professional with strong exposure across Radio, TV, and a full spectrum of Print Media, including Out-of-Home platforms such as billboards.  Candidates with experience in Finance, Insurance, or Investments will be advantageous, though sector knowledge can be learned. Creativity, leadership, and brand stewardship remain the primary selection criteria.
 
Role Overview:
The Senior Creative Director will own the creative vision, ensuring all brand outputs—visual, written, digital, and multimedia—adhere to a unified creative direction. You will lead a team that includes designers, videographers, copy resources, and social media creatives. The position requires a strategic thinker with deep experience in visual identity, campaign development, and integrated brand communication across all major media.  The successful candidate must be able to operate at senior level, guide creative teams, challenge conventions, and deliver bold, high-impact creative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Creative & Brand Leadership

• Develop and maintain the overarching creative vision and brand identity.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team (design, copy, multimedia, social, etc.).
• Ensure all creative outputs—internal and external—are aligned to brand tone, positioning, and visual direction.
• Provide senior-level art direction across all media channels.

• Oversee and approve concepts, artwork, layouts, scripts, photography, videography, and final production outputs.
• Ensure excellence in creative execution across Radio, TV, and all Print Media, including billboards and large-format installations.
• Guide multimedia and videography teams in producing compelling brand-aligned narratives.

• Work closely with Marketing leadership and cross-functional teams to maintain cohesive brand messaging.
• Communicate creative rationales clearly to stakeholders and executive decision-makers.
• Collaborate with Social Media teams to ensure tonal and visual consistency across platforms.

• Lead performance-driven creative campaigns that optimise engagement and measurable outcomes.
• Use data and insights to refine creative direction and improve campaign effectiveness.

• Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and development for creative team members.
• Foster an environment that encourages innovation, ownership, and creative excellence.

• Manage creative workflows, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
• Implement structured processes to improve efficiency within creative operations.

• Agency experience is mandatory.
• Proven exposure across Radio, TV, and full Print Media, including billboards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage creative teams.
• Capability to conceptualise and deliver large-scale, high-impact campaigns.
• Strong portfolio reflecting brand-building expertise and advanced visual communication.

• Experience within Finance, Insurance, or Investment sectors (advantageous but not essential).
• Background as a Senior Art Director or Creative Lead in brand-driven environments.
• Prior work with bold, witty, unconventional, or boundary-pushing brands.
• Experience operating within large, fast-paced marketing teams.

• Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Advertising, Brand Communication, Multimedia, or a related creative discipline.
• Minimum five years’ senior-level creative experience.
