SUMMARY:
Credit Risk Consultant

n exciting opportunity exists within a Financial Risk Management advisory environment to join the Credit Risk & Capital Management team as a Credit Risk Consultant. This specialist function supports clients with the development, validation, and review of complex statistical models used to quantify financial risk.

The role offers exposure to a wide range of credit risk modelling techniques across banking clients, from smaller local lenders to large internationally active institutions. You will work alongside highly skilled professionals from diverse quantitative backgrounds and gain access to the latest modelling methodologies and technologies.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and review credit risk models for IFRS 9 provisioning and regulatory capital purposes
Validate, audit, and assess credit risk models, including scorecards and related methodologies
Assist with the coding, automation, and optimisation of financial risk management models
Coach, mentor, and support junior team members within a collaborative team environment
Contribute to building a strong coaching culture that encourages challenge and continuous improvement

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:

Honours or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Actuarial Science, or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a quantitative credit risk–focused role
Exposure to credit risk modelling within financial services
Experience in mentoring or coaching junior staff is advantageous

Skills:

Strong understanding of contemporary credit risk modelling techniques
Ability to read, interpret, and write code
Experience with Python, R, SAS, or similar analytical tools
Strong organisational and time management skills

Self-driven, resilient, and adaptable
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain quantitative concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
