POSITION INFO:
Our client is the pre-eminent book retailer in South Africa, known for their values of inclusivity, honesty, and respect. As a BI & Database Operations Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping their data infrastructure and reporting systems, ensuring insights are secure, scalable, and actionable.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and maintain operational data stores and enterprise data warehouses.
Automate daily, weekly, and monthly reporting processes.
Create and maintain reporting cubes and dashboards using MySQL, MS SQL, SSRS, and Power BI.
Manage database performance, backups, recovery, and security.
Support ETL processes, data integration, and ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education: Certification/Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Management. Relevant certifications (Databases, Microsoft, Python, etc.) will be an advantage.
Experience: 3–5 years’ experience in BI and/or DBA roles. Retail industry experience preferred.
Skills: Proficiency in MySQL, MS SQL, SSRS, Power BI, Python for data analysis, and advanced Excel. Strong understanding of database structures, operating systems, and system utilities. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
