Our client is based in Johannesburg North and they are looking for a Devops engineer to join their team. They are an international company with offices in Amercia, the UK and South Africa. They are a global company that develops independent connectivity and data-driven support solutions within a specialist field. These solutions include systems & supply chain connectivity, workflow solutions, agronomy solutions as well as data and analytics. The role involves diagnosing system performance problems, installing and troubleshooting programs within system environments, performing online system functions, assisting in the development lists/scripts, providing prompt recovery and problem escalation for the exceptions, extrapolating and integrating information, assisting in daily support of the systems/products assigned as well as proper documentation and closure of tasks, changes, and requests.

Job Experience & Skills Required:

Bachelor’s degree, with a major in Computer Science or similar

3+ years’ experience as a systems engineer.

Extensive experience using as Linux kernel, UNIX kernel, UNIX file system, and Windows infrastructure.

Thorough knowledge of virtual server environments and thin client. VMWare.

Knowledge of scripts for automation. Perl, BASH, PHP(Nice to have).

Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.

Cloud Hosting - AWS, AZURE

Source Control. GIT, Mercurial, GITLab, Bitbucket

Automation - Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins, Bamboo

Containerisation - Docker, Kubernetes

Monitoring tools - Icinga, Nagios

Web Containers and Application Servers - Tomcat, JBoss, Wildfly, IIS

DB Technologies - mySQL, MariaDB, NoSQL, Mssql
