JOB SUMMARY:
DevOps Engineer
The purpose of the job is to automate the processes between software development and IT teams to enable continuous delivery through designing, developing, testing, and releasing software frequently, faster, and more reliably in an agile environment. To ensure continuous delivery through continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD). Work on a combination of long-term strategic development and shorter-term business focused CI\CD on our trading and risk management platform. Take full ownership of your projects with the backing of a well-established team

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include — but are not limited to:

Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software services
Contributes to the selection of the software development methods, tools and techniques
Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered outcomes
Participates in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work
Building and operating a continuous integration (CI) capability when required employing version control of source code and related artefacts
Ensuring security and privacy controls are an essential part of systems integration and build
Testing, validation and sign off of integration to satisfy requirements, architectures and design
Monitoring and controlling integration activities and recording and reporting on the results of integration
Keeping stakeholders informed and providing feedback into risk management processes
Developing and testing disaster recovery plans and applying incident management processes for major systems integration
First and Second line support for business process and systems

Qualifications

Tertiary-level qualification in Engineering/ Computer Science/ Programming/Systems
Any Java certification is an advantage

Experience
Required

3 - 5 years of enterprise Java in an agile environment, and solid experience with supporting technologies (JBoss, JAVA EE, Hibernate/JPA, MsSql, SQL,SVN, GitLab, DevOps, JavaScript),
2 year experience in a DevOps environment
Exposure to Architect role and able to design solutions
Knowledge on AWS
Exposure to SA financial markets and understanding of derivatives essential
General financial instrument valuation analytics required

Desirable

Experience in Trading and Risk management Solutions
Practical exposure and experience of using ITIL, Agile, and SAFe Principles
Enjoys working in a team and thrives in helping to create a collaborative environment
Proven track record of working in a DevOps team
Passionate about automation, cloud technologies and scalability
Ability to build cloud and deployment architectures

Competencies
Soft:

Must be attentive to detail, flexible and able to work concurrently on multiple projects
Ability to troubleshoot, research, and work through complex problems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills

Technical:

Technical knowledge (Server, Database, Networking, Application)
Knowledge of any of DevOps tools (GIT, Jenkins, CHEF, Control-M, Junit, Selenium)
Profound insight of Java and JEE internals (Class loading, Memory Management, Transaction management)
Proven hands-on Software Development experience
Proven working experience in Java development
