JOB SUMMARY:
Well known fibre / telecommunications company requires the above to head up the combined DevOps and Production support function at the company, providing strategic and operational direction to various teams responsible for designing business process solutions, data structures and seeing and growing software development within the company.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

A BSc Computer Science or related qualification is essential for this role.
Must have previous experience having worked with networking and network management tools related to telecommunications.
Previous experience having worked in a DevOps area supporting SDLC at scale.
Previous experience having managed a team of staff.
The successful candidate must have an excellent understanding of SDLC, patching, releases and software development at scale, continuous integration and delivery approaches.
Must have strong knowledge of cloud provider offerings, AWS and MS Azure in particular as well as databases and effective data structures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Heading a combined DevOps and production support function. Building out new, or integrating to existing applications related to fibre asset management, customer relationship management, network provisioning and management, as well as various supporting functions to these core business aspects related to the deployment of fibre to the home/business fulfilment.
Providing strategic and operational direction (both technical and people-focused) for the team responsible for designing business process solutions, data structures and seeding and growing software development and DevOps culture in the organization for all software platforms that will be built and maintained by the team.
Handling the day-to-day management of the product and data team as well as the software development team and managing deliverables and development sprints.
Implementing and transforming development processes for new and existing application software development into a continuous delivery-driven SDLC, influencing and educating development and product teams to adjust working practices in alignment with modern day software development and delivery approaches.
Managing infrastructure and software selection and design, continuous delivery, adoption and transformation as well as the maintaining of systems.
Overseeing the implementation, deployment, and integration of solutions.
Analysing and approving new code, and performing automation tasks.
