Director of Safety & Security

Location: Cape Town

A prestigious 5-star hotel in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Director of Safety & Security to oversee and manage all aspects of health, safety, and security across the property. This role requires a proactive and strategic leader with a strong background in risk management and hospitality operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct investigations related to theft, property damage, personal injury, and food safety

• Manage external service providers and ensure compliance with all HSSR-related contracts and SLAs

• Oversee pest control and recommend operational improvements

• Review hotel surveillance systems and identify upgrade opportunities

• Implement and maintain the Safety Management System, with regular reporting

• Manage Crisis and Business Continuity Plans, including training and readiness

• Lead the hotel’s Safety, Security & Resilience Committee

Requirements:

• Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar safety/security leadership role

• Background in the hospitality industry is an advantage

• Relevant diploma or degree in safety, security, or management

• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, security procedures, and incident investigations

• Familiarity with modern surveillance systems and fire safety protocols

• Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
