The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of a busy operational hub, overseeing staff, collection and delivery activities, customer service, logistics processes, contracted delivery personnel and associated operational requirements. The ideal candidate will be a mature, humble and hands-on operational leader who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership, communicates effectively and is able to anticipate operational problems before they occur. The position will suit an individual with strong multi-industry operational experience, particularly within logistics, warehousing, FMCG, transport, courier, distribution, fast-food delivery or similar high-volume service environments. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Newcastle hub\/depot, ensuring efficient and consistent service delivery. Oversee the movement of incoming and outgoing parcels\/products through the operation. Manage a high-volume operation processing approximately 800-900 parcels per day. Manage and coordinate Hub Assistants, Logistics Dashboard Operators, Customer Service personnel, Sorters and Supervisors. Ensure that collection and delivery activities are properly coordinated and operational requirements are consistently achieved. Monitor and ensure that required delivery and receiving times are maintained. Lead, motivate, guide and manage staff to achieve required operational standards and performance objectives. Manage contracted drivers, contractors and other operational stakeholders. Maintain effective communication between the Newcastle operation, Head Office, staff, customers, drivers and contractors. Monitor operational performance, identify potential problems and implement preventative measures before issues arise. Proactively anticipate operational requirements and prepare for potential disruptions. Resolve operational problems quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ensure compliance with company SOPs, operational procedures, policies, franchise requirements and applicable guidelines. Manage relationships with satellite sites, depots and contractors as required. Ensure that operational processes are followed consistently and efficiently. Monitor service delivery, productivity, operational performance and achievement of required targets. Maintain a high level of customer service, particularly in relation to collection points and direct-collection customers. Ensure that staff understand their responsibilities and maintain required service and performance standards. Identify opportunities for continuous operational improvement. Assist with maintaining effective cost control within the operation. Ensure that the Newcastle operation remains organised, efficient, responsive and service focused. Provide operational feedback and reporting to senior management \/ Head Office. Take ownership of operational issues and ensure that matters are followed through to resolution. Perform any other reasonable operational and management duties associated with the successful running of the branch\/hub. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Matric \/ Grade 12. Minimum 6 years'' relevant management \/ operational experience preferred. Proven experience in a Branch Management, Operations Management, Depot Management, Warehouse Management, Logistics Management or similar position . Experience within one or more of the following environments will be highly advantageous: Logistics Courier \/ delivery operations Transport Warehousing FMCG Distribution Retail distribution Fast-food \/ food delivery operations E-commerce fulfilment Other high-volume, fast-paced operational environments Proven experience managing a team and coordinating multiple operational functions. Experience working with KPIs, operational targets, SOPs and performance standards . Strong understanding of day-to-day operational management and service delivery. Previous experience dealing with contracted personnel, contractors and external service providers advantageous. Technically and digitally orientated, with the ability to learn and utilise in-house \/ app-based operational systems . Strong computer literacy and ability to work with digital dashboards and operational systems. Valid driver''s licence and own reliable vehicle essential , due to travel between operational locations. Fuel \/ travel costs associated with required operational travel will be covered. Must be comfortable working operational hours, including extended hours where operational requirements dictate.
