Divisional Financial Accountant CA (SA) - 12 month contract

SUMMARY:
We are recruiting for an experienced Divisional Financial Accountant for a 9-month contract engagement, with the option to extend on a month-to-month basis for up to 3 months. This is a senior finance role based at the organisation's head office, reporting into the Divisional Financial Reporting Manager. The Divisional Financial Accountant will take ownership of the organisation's financial reporting function and serve as Business Process Owner for key financial accounting processes. This is a highly visible role that interfaces directly with Group and requires someone who can operate with confidence and authority at senior level

Duties:
Financial Reporting

• Oversee all financial reporting requirements for Group and the division, ensuring quality and adherence to deadlines across month end, quarterly, interim and year end cycles.
• Review monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual financial statements to ensure validity, accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Chair the Finance team's review of the consolidated trial balance.
• Co-ordinate all external and internal audits, ensuring no major reporting items arise.
• Review all HQ general ledger reconciliations, journals and inter/intra-company transactions impacting the financial statements.

• Serve as bank signatory, reviewing creditor reconciliations for all payment types including foreign payments, CAPEX, travel and weekly payroll.
• Manage the rollout of the Cash Management SOP and working capital initiatives in support of the Group's strategic objective of optimal working capital performance.
• Review and authorise monthly and quarterly cash forecasts submitted to Group Treasury.

• Review and authorise debtor credit applications, cash accounts and credit limits in accordance with the Delegation of Authority.
• Review the debtors masterfile exception report.
• Review revaluation results and provide support to the fixed asset team as required.

• Maintain and enhance a controlled financial environment in line with zero tolerance for ineffective controls and non-adherence to the PFMA.

• Serve as Business Process Owner for the SAP FI Module, taking accountability for authorisations, developments and enhancements.
• Drive financial risk management and ensure a sound financial control environment, including identification, monitoring and implementation of controls.
• Complete the Control Self-Assessment (CSA) on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
• Update and monitor the Minimum Controls Framework, ensuring HQ compliance and preventing repeat audit findings across terminals.
• Implement and monitor national policies, SOPs and guidelines across accounts receivable, payable and general ledger functions.
• Manage the Financial Reporting Office team at HQ to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Act as alternate to the Divisional Financial Reporting Manager on several committees.

• CA (SA) qualification is essential.
• 6 to 8 years of relevant post-articles experience in a financial accounting environment.
• Proven experience in financial reporting at a senior level, ideally within a complex, multi-entity organisation.
• Technical Knowledge
• Expert-level knowledge of IFRS.
• In-depth knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), asset management, financial controls and corporate governance.
• Experienced SAP user with proficiency in the CO and FI modules.
• Strong understanding of the financial impact, risks and opportunities across a business.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
