Draughtsman / Engineering - Steel - City Deep/Selby

SUMMARY:
A large international engineering/ manufacturing company requires the above to be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed technical drawings, models, and schematics that support the design, development, and manufacturing of products, systems, and components.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements for the role:

• A matric is essential for this role.
• A NQF level 4 drawing office practice is essential.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
• A national diploma / certificate in mechanical, electrical, civil, or structural drafting (or related field) is pref.
• Additional cad software certification is advantageous.
• Previous draughting experience having worked as a draughtsman in an engineering or manufacturing environment is essential.
• Proven experience working with 2D and 3D modelling software is essential.
• Familiarity with international engineering drawing standards and tolerancing practices.
• Must be proficient in CAD Software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.).
• Must have a strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Must have good communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Responsible for preparing accurate and detailed technical drawings, models, and schematics that support the design, development, and manufacturing of products, systems, and components.
• Ensuring that all drawings are produced in compliance with the programs, procedures, and policies of the organisation.
• Producing drawings in such a way as required to assure processes and standards are met.
• Assisting with quality targets and the smooth running of the production processes.
• Partaking in company policies and sops (standard operating procedures) through the iso system.
• Minimising waste and cost and ensuring conformance to safety and quality.
• Maintaining housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace using 5S and iso.
• Preparing and revising 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD Software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Catia).
• Converting conceptual designs, sketches, and engineering calculations into precise manufacturing drawings.
• Ensuring all drawings adhere to relevant industry standards, company specifications, and client requirements.
• Working closely with engineers to develop solutions to design challenges.
• Providing support during design reviews, product development, and manufacturing processes.
• Liaising with production and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet required tolerances.
• Contributing to cost-optimisation initiatives through efficient design solutions.
