SUMMARY:
An established engineering company, specialising in electrical infrastructure projects, is looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of substation and power distribution systems across various industrial and utility-scale projects.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Design of medium and high voltage electrical substations (up to 132kV), including protection, control, and SCADA integration
Preparation of single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, schematics, and cable routing
Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and clients to ensure project delivery according to specification and timelines
Technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to commissioning
Ensure that designs comply with industry standards (e.g., SANS, IEC, and NRS)
Perform design reviews and quality checks
Preparation of technical documentation and BOQs

Minimum Requirements:

BTech or BSc in Electrical Engineering
3–8 years of electrical design experience, specifically within substation or power system projects
Proficient in AutoCAD (experience with Revit or EPLAN will be an advantage)
Strong knowledge of power system protection and substation automation
Familiar with Eskom and municipal specifications and standards
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
