Electrical Product Engineer

The position will be based in Wadeville, and the incumbent will report to Manager: Power, Control and Automation.

Job Specification (not totally inclusive)

• Lead or perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands, as well as for continual process improvements;
• Perform or plan engineering evaluations including investigations, calculations and tests requiring guidance only in controversial circumstances;
• Provide conceptual and strategic solutions to solve problems that are associated with engineering projects or evaluations;
• Develop and participate in programs for effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards for design and safety of products and services, as well as engineering best practices;
• Technical “ownership” of electrical motors and transformers within Engineering including; drawings, bills of material and specifications;
• Providing support on Electrical systems (motors and transformers) issues to Customers, Manufacturing, Account Managers, Sales Representatives, Field Services , Smart Services, and other Engineering Departments;
• Perform Load Studies to prove Electrical Motor suitability for specific applications,
• Perform Fault level calculations,
• Implement effective Change Management to achieve the desired organizational outcomes by successfully changing individual behaviors as needed,
• Lead or perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands, as well as for continual process improvements; and
• Perform or plan engineering evaluations including investigations, calculations and tests requiring guidance only in controversial circumstances.

Minimum Skills required

• BEng/BSc Electrical engineering degree is essential;
• Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in Electrical machines, with emphasis on electrical motors. Mining industry experience would be beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and flameproof for the electrical engineering discipline;
• Knowledge of underground mining equipment and / or Joy product and experience would be an advantage;
• SAP /R3 experience would be an added advantage, MS Office suit is required;
• Must valid driver’s license and own transport.

• Professional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societies, beneficial.
