Electrical Project Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a motivated and technically strong Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team that delivers modular electrical and automation solutions for industrial plants. The successful candidate will play a key role in electrical design, engineering, and technical delivery across projects from concept through to commissioning and optimisation. You will work on containerised and skid-mounted electrical systems, motor control centres, instrumentation, PLC/HMI systems, and support modular plant electrification for mining, oil & gas, chemical and broader industrial sectors.

POSITION INFO:

• Lead electrical engineering design for control systems, switchgear, power distribution and motor control centre assemblies.
• Prepare electrical schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, bills of materials and specifications.
• Collaborate with process, instrumentation, mechanical and automation teams to integrate electrical solutions into modular equipment designs.
• Support electrical assembly, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site installation and commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (IEC, SANS, ECSA, ISO quality & safety protocols).
• Troubleshoot electrical and control issues during installation and testing phases.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and modular electrical solutions.

• BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Professional registration with ECSA (PrEng) is highly preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in an electrical engineering role with exposure to industrial electrical design and automation.
• Strong knowledge of LV electrical systems, power distribution, motor controls and PLC/SCADA systems.
• Experience with electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and MS Office.
• Familiar with standards such as IEC 61439, SANS and recognised quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
