Engineer: Maintenance

Purpose of the job:

To provide high-level technical support and leadership of a Section within the PEM Department, implement the maintenance strategy, and assume the role of General Machinery Regulations 2(1) or 2(7) appointee as may be required.

Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

• Translate strategy into an action plan for the section, in line with organisational strategy.
• Conduct reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) on equipment to derive or enhance equipment maintenance strategies.
• Lead and manage the technical team including resources allocation for repairs, planned maintenance, modifications, and lead root cause analysis activities.
• Ensure continuous improvement and optimisation of the plant and equipment by systematically resolving technical problems by applying root cause analysis techniques and providing solutions thereto.
• Manage team performance and sustain high-performance standards, set and achieve objectives and goals in accordance with the departmental strategy.
• Lead the development of standard operating procedures, work instructions, training manuals, and related documentation to sustain team capability and effectively manage engineered assets in the area of responsibility.
• Minimise equipment downtime by ensuring adherence to the planned maintenance schedule and ensure safe execution of maintenance activities.
• Define accurate specifications, initiate projects, and take ownership thereof on behalf of the PEM department to ensure the success of project work.
• To supervise and ensure safety equipment installations and commissioning to ensure that equipment operates according to requirements after installation or repair.
• Manage overall compliance to relevant legislation, by-laws, and regulations by developing risk management plans, identifying potential threats or risks, and proactively mitigating them.
• Monitors cost for the Technical Section.

The Preferred candidate is likely to have:

• BSc Eng or BEng. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• GCC certificate (Advantageous)
• 5 – 8 years experience in technologically advanced production equipment
