SUMMARY:
A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and manage the engineering functions for multiple facilities. The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical direction to ensure that the maintenance and operation of both movable and immovable plant equipment are carried out efficiently and in compliance with safety standards and legislation. This role involves overseeing infrastructure projects, managing contracts, and ensuring that engineering practices align with industry standards.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the hospital engineering functions, ensuring efficient maintenance and operation of equipment across facilities
Manage and oversee infrastructure and construction projects, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations
Ensure the application of best practices and adherence to relevant legislation, including the OHS Act
Manage contracts, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure cost-effective procurement practices
Provide leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure operational efficiency and safety
Manage budgets, oversee financial planning, and ensure optimal use of resources for engineering functions
Ensure all hospital engineering operations comply with legal and industry regulations

Requirements:

Educational Qualification: Grade 12 National Certificate required; B-Tech/Bachelorâs Degree in Mechanical or Electrical (Heavy Current) Engineering preferred Certification with a Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) is an advantage
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of operations or engineering maintenance experience in a hospital or similar environment
Leadership: Proven experience in leading teams and managing staff in a technical environment
Knowledge: Strong understanding of contract management, OHS regulations, facilities management, and engineering procurement
Skills: Excellent project management and financial management skills
Additional Requirements: A valid driverâs license and the ability to travel between locations

Skills and Competencies:

Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to manage complex engineering projects
Proficiency in contract negotiation and management
Knowledge of OHS Act regulations
Technical problem-solving abilities
