Well established food manufacturer has a vacancy for an Engineering Manager who will manage plant maintenance and plant optimisation by initiating equipment improvements and providing engineering support to a multi-disciplined maintenance team, while controlling costs within budget. POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities: Manage and improve plant safety by ensuring compliance to legislation. Scheduling and overseeing all maintenance-related work by managing a team of multidisciplinary maintenance technicians. Assessment of risk involved in conducting various jobs and activities. In particular, planning and communicating jobs which entail work on high risk areas (high pressure super-heated steam, sulphuric acid, anhydrous ammonia, chlorine gas, phosphoric acid, nitric acid). Conduct HAZOP study & participate in HACCP study. Interfacing of projects\/modifications with production. Manage change and construction issues and deviations. Developing and implementing a (proactive) maintenance strategy. Coordinating the completion of complex repairs. Appointing subcontractors for specialized maintenance work and signing off on maintenance contracts. Completing small projects and shut-down maintenance, on time and ensuring cost control while delivering agreed outputs. Ensure all project & equipment documentation complete. Ensure Plant personnel trained to operate new process\/equipment and that SOP's are provided. Comply with ModProp process. Identify recurring troublesome equipment\/problems and propose and implement alterations\/modifications where agreed\/budgeted. Effectively managing budgets by forecasting, ordering, and price negotiation for spare parts inventor. Looking for new ways\/tools\/assets to improve productivity and cut costs. Resolve breakdowns timeously, in a continuous, 365 day, production environment. Requirements: B.Eng (Mechanical) + Government Certificate of Competency. 5 years' FMCG maintenance engineering experience covering all engineering disciplines - Electrical\/Mechanical\/Instrumentation\/Civil. RCM or similar training and implementation. Proven maintenance track record. Knowledge of OHS Act, Hazardous Chemicals, National Environmental Legislation. Expert knowledge of all major plant equipment. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
