Responsible for overseeing engineering activities and projects for global food manufacturing company with startup operation in Durban

POSITION INFO:

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Responsible for site safety agenda as the GMR 2(1) Engineer for the factory
• Manage the Environmental & Sustainability agenda for the Site
• Ensure compliance with OHS and the relevant legal requirements with respect to amongst others, ammonia compliance, fire compliance and electrical compliance
• Support the site quality agenda and ensure equipment performs to the required quality standards.
• Responsible for Plant OEE’s and Capacities
• Ensure the achievement of service level KPI’s
• Ensure that the plant is maintained in line with best-in-class maintenance systems
• Deploy a preventative maintenance programme.
• Manage the CAPEX agenda (budget and projects) and ensure the successful execution of projects
• Own the engineering budget and ensure CI savings are always delivered in line with targets without compromising on safety and quality
• Drive continuous improvement in sustainability measures across all fronts
• Lead the Maintenance and Safety Teams
• Ensure that a high level of service is maintained and delivered inter-departmentally and to customers.
• Ensure, the enablement, and implementation of the required Company Risk and Compliance policies and procedures and the maintenance of good Corporate Governance.
• Ensure teams are trained and developed
• Hiring and developing talent: predict business needs, assess the required skills for the new factories and develop & hire talent to run the new factory efficiently and effectively. Evolve a skills development program, aligned to changing business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant qualification and GCC
• Experience within an FMCG foods manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with different services and utilities (steam, ammonia, thermal oil etc.)
• Technical proficiency across asset lifecycle design, installation, commissioning, and plant operation.
• Management of large-scale expansion projects.
• Good working understanding of electrical and mechanical principles that support equipment operations.
• Good understanding of quality assurance principles, standard requirements and the set of processes and activities used for measuring, controlling and ensuring the quality of products and processes.
• Track record of managing multiple projects, and balancing competing priorities.
• Strong working knowledge of operational procedures.
