SUMMARY:
An Operations Manager with extensive FMCG experience is required in Queensburgh to oversee production in the factories. The position is on a Senior Management level and a tertiary education with at least 7 years experience in FMCG is required.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

  • 7- 10 years FMCG / Food & beverage experience
  • Tertiary qualification
  • People Management/development at a senior level

Responsibilities:

Plan, direct and coordinate the manufacturing of products  Manage plant operations Direct the managers in provision and execution of operating strategies and plans Ensure optimal stock holding levels

Optimise fixed and variable cost Optimise and reduce the operational unit cost Control variable cost to reduce transfer prices to Commercial Develop and motivate the cost-effective alternatives and improvements to production process Perform analysis of manufacturing materials and determine optimum control levels Manage and reduce the electrical, steam, water etc. consumption

Ensure adequate market supply Liaise with Supply Chain Planning to optimise the scheduling plan Manage the capacity utilisation of the equipment

Ensure that product quality standards and GMP are maintained Improve quality by reducing incidents of non conformance  Manage and maintain good manufacturing practises (GMP) Manage and maintain modification control procedures Identify the root cause and implement corrective action plans 

Establish a continuous improvement culture Implement action plans to achieve best practises Ensure smooth commissioning of equipment during project completion  Identify opportunities for automation and mechanisation Identify action plans to close performance gaps    Improve the reliability of the plant through sound maintenance practises  
Maintain employee safety and morale  Establish safety practises in accordance with the OSHACT   Implement actions to reduce the environmental impact of the plant   Create a safe and efficient working environment (SHE)   Establish a safety culture at the plant

Manage staff - where applicable Ensure optimal utilisation of staff Apply consistent discipline  Train and develop staff  Conduct meetings and ensure effective communication to all Liaise and communicate with management in all departments  Set objectives, manage and measure performance of subordinates
