Field Service Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading provider of specialised engineering solutions and services to the mining industry, is seeking an experienced Field Service Manager to oversee service operations and the implementation of specialised systems and products on clients’ mining equipment.

This is a hands-on management role suited to an experienced electrical professional with strong mining exposure, proven leadership capability and the ability to manage customer relationships, service-level agreements and operational teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality service delivery, operational efficiency and the sustainability and profitability of customer SLA and training agreements.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Coordinate and manage operational teams, allocating resources and tasks to ensure effective service delivery. Manage the performance, development and discipline of direct reports in line with company policies and procedures. Manage the operational schedule and ensure services are delivered according to agreed customer requirements and SLAs. Monitor SLA performance, identify potential risks and implement corrective actions where required. Attend and actively participate in client meetings at operational and management level. Maintain strong relationships with key customers and ensure their service requirements are consistently met. Drive the successful implementation of specialised systems and products on mining equipment. Provide meaningful and accurate operational reporting to senior management. Compile weekly reports on completed tasks, operational performance and outstanding activities. Drive staff development, training and continuous improvement. Develop strategies and processes to improve service efficiency, quality and cost-effectiveness. Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs while maintaining service standards. Ensure day-to-day operations are effectively controlled and aligned with customer requirements. Facilitate effective communication between internal departments, operational teams and customers. Ensure compliance with applicable mining, health and safety, labour and engineering legislation and standards. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 \/ Matric. Diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Trade Tested Electrician \/ Electrical Trade qualification. Minimum 5 years' managerial experience within a mining environment . Valid Flameproof and Gas Testing qualifications. Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport. Own accommodation. Computer literate. Technical & Industry Knowledge The ideal candidate will have: Strong knowledge of South African mining legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals Act and environmental legislation . Good understanding of the Labour Relations Act and Basic Conditions of Employment Act . Knowledge of engineering codes of practice, standards and procedures applicable to coal and hard-rock mining operations in South Africa. Understanding of best practices and emerging technologies within electrical and electronic engineering. Strong knowledge of flameproof equipment and gas testing requirements. Proven ability to operate effectively within a safety-critical mining environment. Key Competencies Strong leadership and people-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication.
