Finance Manager

POSITION INFO:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented finance professional to oversee the full spectrum of accounting, project accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and management reporting. This role will also provide strategic financial advisory, business growth support, and investor readiness guidance. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise, excellent analytical ability, and the capacity to partner with business leaders in driving financial performance and growth. Experience in developing and implementing accounting systems and exposure to fundraising will be highly advantageous. Candidates with a background in the Construction, Project Management, or Fibre Optics industries will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting & Taxation Services

• Manage the monthly accounting process and prepare accurate financial reports.
  
• Handle VAT calculations and timely submissions.
  
• Prepare and submit provisional and annual income tax returns.
  
• Draft and finalise annual financial statements in compliance with relevant standards.
  
• Provide tax planning and structuring advice to optimise financial outcomes.
  
• Ensure compliance with all statutory taxation requirements, including corporate income tax, payroll taxes, and indirect taxes.
  
• Liaise with external auditors and tax authorities as required.
  
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with management.
  
• Develop, implement, and enhance accounting systems and financial controls to support business growth and efficiency.
  

Project Accounting

• Oversee the financial management of projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking and reporting.
  
• Prepare project budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  
• Monitor project cash flows, billings, and recoveries to ensure profitability and sustainability.
  
• Collaborate with project managers to align financial controls with project delivery milestones.
  
• Provide financial insights to support project decision-making and risk management.
  

Management Reporting & Strategic Advisory

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis against budgets.
  
• Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure liquidity and operational efficiency.
  
• Develop and maintain KPI dashboards and performance reports.
  
• Facilitate quarterly business performance reviews, providing strategic insights.
  

Business Growth and Funding Support

• Prepare financial packs, models, and supporting documents for funding applications.
  
• Assist with drafting business plans aligned to financial and strategic goals.
  
• Support investor readiness through accurate financial presentations and analysis.
  
• Partner with executives to identify opportunities for growth and sustainable profitability.
  
• Leverage fundraising exposure to support capital raising and financing strategies.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• CA(SA) qualification is essential.
  
• At least 3 years (after Articles) proven experience in accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, and tax compliance
  
• In-depth knowledge of Xero Accounting
  
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  
• Experience in developing and implementing accounting systems.
  
• Fundraising exposure is highly advantageous.
  
• Experience in financial modelling and preparing investor-related financial documents.
  
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
  
• Strong understanding of IFRS and tax legislation.
  
• Preferably from the Construction, Project Management, or Fibre Optics industries.
