POSITION INFO:

Finance Manager CA(SA)

Cape Town CBD | In-Office | Group Environment
This is a targeted search for a commercially astute CA(SA) with ±8 years post-articles experience to step into a high-impact Finance Manager role within a well-established group operating in a fast-paced sales and marketing environment.
The role sits at the intersection of group reporting, commercial finance, and leadership. It requires someone equally comfortable in the detail and in the boardroom, a Finance Manager who understands how numbers move a business, not just how they reconcile.

The Brief

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role carries full responsibility for the finance function of a key division within the group. You will lead a small, capable finance team while acting as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership.
This is not a back-office role. The Finance Manager is expected to challenge, influence, and guide business decisions using accurate financial insight and strong commercial judgment.

Core Mandate

Group Reporting & Consolidations

Ownership of monthly and quarterly management reporting in line with group standards
Active involvement in group consolidations, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and consistency
Close collaboration with group finance on reporting timelines, variances, and submissions

Commercial Finance & Decision Support

Review budgets, forecasts, and rolling cash flow projections
Analyse variances and translate them into clear, commercial insight for leadership
Review forex exposure and forward cover requirements in line with group forex policy

Financial Governance & Control

Review and approve general ledger reconciliations
Direct internal audits and coordinate external audit processes
Ensure strong financial controls, governance, and compliance across the division

Tax, Statutory & Regulatory

Preparation and review of annual tax calculations and supporting schedules
Oversight of VAT, tax, and statutory submissions including SARB and Stats SA
Ensure ongoing compliance with IFRS and relevant financial legislation

BBBEE, Insurance & Risk

Monthly preparation and review of BBBEE schedules and scorecard reporting
Oversight of annual insurance declarations and related risk documentation

Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team
Drive accountability, deadlines, and continuous improvement within the function

Systems & Process

Operate within a SAP environment (FI, CO, MM, SD advantageous)
Leverage advanced Excel and system capability to improve reporting quality and efficiency

The Profile

This mandate is suited to a candidate who brings:

CA(SA) qualification
±8 years post-articles experience in a Financial Manager or equivalent role
Proven exposure to group environments and consolidations
Strong technical grounding in IFRS, Tax, and VAT
SAP experience (beneficial, not essential)
A leadership style that is hands-on, structured, and commercially minded
