POSITION INFO:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage staff complement

  • Manage tasks to be performed by staff in line with required deadlines and accuracy
  • Manage and approve leave applications
  • Appraise performance of staff complement in line with company policy
  • Ensure that the staff complement is aware of and comply with all relevant company policies and procedures
  • Instigate disciplinary action as required where transgressions of company policy, procedure and/or employment contract are noted
  • Ensure that staff complement receives all communication relevant to their positions
  • Rally staff to participate in all company activities
  • Managing the performance of tasks where staff is absent. This includes the ability to perform the work of the absent team member and/or re-assigning tasks to available team members to ensure uninterrupted processing

 

Management of Financial administration

  • Accountable for the Financial administration function of The company Life
  • Implement sound financial management policies and procedures
  • Comply with industry & financial best practice standards
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of effective reconciliation and accounting processes between Aims and Sage ERP 300.
  • Enforce/Implement effective internal financial controls and Financial Administration Policy
  • Ensure that sufficient substantive evidence is available to auditors
  • Conduct all necessary integration of commission transactions between Aims, Sage VIP and Sage ERP
  • Oversee the proper integration of premium and claim transactions between Aims and Sage ERP
  • Manage the process of daily payments, including vendor payments and policyholder benefit payments.

 

Manage the performance and review of reconciliations of all accounts up to trial balance

  • Oversee the process of reconciliations and ensure proper review and sign-off

 

Review and release (authorise) EFT payments

  • Review and release payments on the electronic banking platform for all payments

 

Provide support relating to various committees

  • Assist in the preparation of document for- and perform research relating to various committees including inter alia:
    • Credit control committee
    • Tax committee
    • Management committee

 

Requirements           

Formal Education:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) SA (advantage)
  • Post graduate diploma in applied accounting sciences / Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) and completed articles (critical).

 

Experience:

  • Management experience 1 to 3 years (requirement)
  • Insurance industry exposure (advantage)
  • A proper understanding of electronic banking (requirement).
  • Advanced computer literacy and knowledge of MS office (requirement), specifically intermediate/advanced Excel (vlookup / sumif).
  • A good understanding of- and experience in- working with Sage ERP 300 (advantage).
  • SQL management studio – ability to query SQL databases and extract data (major advantage)
