Financial Control and Management Information Analyst

SUMMARY:
Our client is a South African financial services group, offering a comprehensive range of long-term insurance products and services to both the individual and corporate markets. They are recruiting for a Financial Control and Management Information Analyst.

POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the job:

• The role will be responsible for designing, testing, and implementing financial reporting and financial decision support capabilities for the Company so that the business objectives of users of the information are fully enabled within the prescribed service, cost, and quality mandates.
• The incumbent will also be deployed on projects as and when required by the business, working in and leading feature teams on strategic projects.

Qualifications:

A degree in the relevant field, e.g. Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Information Systems.

Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years related work experience
• People or Project Management Experience
• Must have a good understanding of financial products in the South African market
• Must have experience with the configuration and maintenance of trading, accounting, and reporting systems
• Must have experience with financial derivatives
• Exposure to the insurance industry would be beneficial 

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of financial accounting principles, Balance Sheet Substantiation, and Profit & Loss validation principles and deliverables.
• Knowledge of IFRS
• Knowledge of information management and provision to internal and external clients
• Knowledge of data control and validation processes and procedures to ensure heightened data quality
• Capital management reporting
• SAP, Oracle, or other sub-ledger and general leger tools
