POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a Financial Manager for a leading private school in Johannesburg. This is a hands-on role reporting to the Head of Finance, offering the opportunity to lead and develop the finance team while managing all aspects of financial administration, budgeting, accounting, and statutory compliance. You will play a key role in ensuring sound fiscal management, providing strategic financial advice, and implementing policies that strengthen governance.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, manage, and monitor budgets, financial strategies, and reports
Manage accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and statutory compliance
Maintain accurate accounting records, trial balances, and reconciliations in Pastel (Partner & Evolution)
Supervise, mentor, and support finance staff to ensure smooth operations
Provide financial guidance and reporting to management and committees

Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance, CA(SA), or equivalent

Experience:

10–15 years of financial/business management experience
Substantial management experience
Experience in leading change initiatives
Previous experience in a school environment preferred

Skills:

Advanced Pastel (Partner & Evolution) and Microsoft Office skills
Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage complex financial operations
