Our client in the Childcare Sector, based in Port Elizabeth, is currently looking to employ an experienced Financial Manager.

Requirements:

  • A financial degree or diploma will be beneficial.
  • Experience in the NPO sector will be to applicant’s advantage.
  • A good knowledge in Excel required.
  • Proficient in Pastel Express XP 2018.
  • At least 5-10 years experience in a Financial Manager/Book-keeping position.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
  • Have attention to detail.
  • Be organized.
  • Must be able to follow controls and procedures.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines.
  • Have good communication skills.

 

Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:

Processing of accounts:

  • Process financial records onto Pastel monthly, including accruals, journals, and petty cash.
  • Check all allocations and balance bank reconciliations.
  • Processing of the financials.
  • Analysis of key expense areas as required by the director of finance committee.
  • Invoice debtors and pay creditors on terms.
  • Follow up payments and reconciliation of debtor and creditor accounts.
  • Preparation of VAT control file, payments, refunds from SARS.
  • Prepare any documentation for any VAT audit.

External audits:

  • Prepare year-end audit, figures, and journals in preparation for annual audit.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Any external stakeholders’ audits which may include the auditor general and due diligence audits by current or potential donors.

Bank account and petit cash

  • Drawing of bank statements and monitor deposits and debit order.
  • Payment of accounts throughout the month.
  • Arrange banking of cash/cheques as required.
  • Proper cash flow management to maximize interest earned.
  • Notify director of any donations received.
  • Credit card reconciliations monthly.
  • Control petty cash payments and box and receipts.
  • Balancing of petty cash box monthly.

Funding and budgets

  • Assist director with funding proposals and budgets where required.
  • Monitor funding spent as per specification of donor and accounting documents to be prepared by any donor audit.
  • Assist the director with the annual budget to be tabled for the finance committee.
  • Assist director with the monthly monitoring of actual to date budget each month.
  • Issue relevant Section 18A tax certificates where required.
  • Process and keep accurate account of the in-kind donation register as received from procurement officer monthly.
