POSITION INFO:
PURPOSE:
The FM/FD will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring robust financial controls, and driving sustainable growth for the business. The candidate will manage all aspects of financial planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management while supporting the executive team with data-driven insights for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the financial strategy aligned to the company’s business objectives and growth targets.
- Advise the Board and CEO on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead capital allocation, investment analysis, and scenario planning to support growth.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, local tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor KPIs and deliver timely financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
Operational Finance
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions to ensure liquidity and financial sustainability.
- Drive efficiency in financial processes, systems, and reporting.
- Oversee procurement and credit control functions.
- Monitor foreign exchange exposure and implement forward cover strategies to mitigate currency risk.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Maintain strong internal controls, risk management frameworks, and audit compliance.
- Ensure the company adheres to relevant legislation, including SARS, BEE, and labour regulations.
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, investors, and regulatory bodies.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Partner with operational and commercial leaders to align financial and business strategies.
- Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and performance excellence while fostering a caring work environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant CA(SA) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 10 years’ progressive financial management experience
- Proven track record in a company of similar scale
- Strong experience in strategic planning, cash flow management, and corporate finance.
- Familiarity with South African financial, tax, and legal frameworks.
- Experience in technology, distribution, or services industries advantageous.
