Fleet Manager

SUMMARY:
Oversee the entire lifecycle of passenger buses and shuttles, ensuring safe, compliant and cost effective operations.

POSITION INFO:

This position is based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town and offers an interesting and dynamic opportunity for a skilled Fleet Manager. Your duties will include preventive maintenance scheduling, driver management (hiring, training, safety tracking), regulatory compliance and optimizing fuel consumption and routes.

We are recruiting for an experienced Fleet Manager who can lead a large fleet, giving your input to a seamless operation.

Requirements:

• Matric
• Relevant qualifications would be to your advantage
• 8 years’ plus experience as a Fleet Manager
• Ability to analyze fleet data (telematics, fuel, maintenance) to make improvements
• Ability to lead, guide and implement
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Strong communication skills to manage drivers and communicate with stakeholders
• Computer literate and familiarity with GPS tracking and fleet management software

Duties:

Vehicle Maintenance and Safety.

• Implement rigorous preventive maintenance schedules for passenger safety
• Coordinate repairs
• Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations

Driver Management:

• Train and manage drivers, including monitoring driving behaviour – using GPS tracking
• Scheduling shifts
• Ensuring valid licensing

Operational Efficiency:

• Optimize routes
• Schedules and vehicle utilization to reduce fuel consumption and downtime

Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with local transportation regulations
• Health and Safety standards
• Insurance requirements

Asset Lifecycle Management:

• Manage vehicle acquisition, registration and disposal

Budgeting & Cost Control:

• Track expenses
• Optimize fuel usage
• Manage operational costs
