JOB SUMMARY:
FREIGHT FORWARDING OPERATIONS MANAGER (MINERALS AND METALS)
DURBAN – KWAZULU NATAL
Our busy and efficient client is looking for an experienced Freight Forwarding Operations Manager too effectively manage & control the Durban operations for Minerals & Metals forwarding business. If you are an excellent team player and builder, time conscious, service orientated, highly motivated with high energy levels and can demonstrate your management and financial management abilities then this is the opportunity for you.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Main purpose of the job is to manage and control the Durban operations for Minerals and Metals Forwarding business.

Education and experience
Matric with relevant Diploma/Degree in Freight Forwarding or Logistics
General knowledge of Customs procedures will be an advantage
Minimum 5 years’ working experience in Freight Forwarding industry
Minimum 5 years’ Administrative experience at Senior Level
Minimum 3 years Managing a team

Operations Management

Management of team planning and execution of operations from upliftment at mine up to FOB, including Ocean freight logistics where required.
Working with internal stakeholders to provide forwarding services in line with customer requirements, this may include but is not limited to internal and local transport services, international and local rail services, terminals, customs, ocean freight etc.
Daily management of warehouse receipts, dispatching, stock management.

Administration

Management of billing to customer in line with quoted rates and costs.
Management of team operational files, shipping ledgers, creditors, and acquittals.
Management of opening and closing on system-based files.
Management of sin costs, including but not limited to demurrage, standing time, unforeseen costs, overtime etc
Daily, weekly and monthly internal reporting
Daily client reporting as per agreed parameters.

Team Management

Management of team leave and working hours.
Management of team’s workload.
Management of team operations, which may include local and regional.
